The Practice Vault — Shingon Reiki Level 1
A living collection of Shingon Reiki practice — gathered over years, yours to return to, again and again.
Some practices only truly open when you meet them more than once. A single pass leaves a first impression; the tenth pass changes something in you. The Practice Vault is a rich, recorded collection of Shingon Reiki Level 1 practice — gathered over years of my work — so you can sit with it, practice along, and return whenever you wish, at your own pace and in your own time.
This is Reiki as it flows from the Japanese source. Most of the world knows Reiki as a gentle method for relaxation — but Mikao Usui was reaching for something deeper: the awakening of a natural human ability. To perceive subtle energy, to let it move through your hands, and through practice to develop yourself and come into living contact with the spiritual world.
Whether Reiki is new to you, or you already carry years of practice in another lineage, here you find the ground it grew from — and a practice you can genuinely make your own.
More than Reiki applications
The Vault begins where most Reiki begins — but it does not stay there. You'll find the foundation of treating with Reiki: hand positions for the head, for the torso, and a set of seven "wake-up" positions to begin your morning clear and awake. Simple, grounding, and yours from the first day.
And then it opens into the practices that make Shingon Reiki its own tradition.
What lives inside the Vault
The 7 secret Reiki techniques
Methods I developed over decades to awaken perception in your hands — and to strengthen the Reiki power flowing from them, already at Level 1, without needing a Level 2 amplifier. When I first brought these to the West, some called them "non-traditional." Years of research in Japan showed the opposite: they are more original than the Western lineage. Usui himself worked this way — they were simply never carried across.
Special Shingon Reiki applications
Aura and chakra cultivation, working with the mental and emotional layer — the ground of the second Reiki symbol, Sei Heki — and focused practices to bring clarity where old patterns have settled. You come to sense the energy field and to move with it, intuitively and with growing confidence.
Reiki for the earth & working with stones
Practice reaches beyond the body: sending sparkling Reiki to the earth itself, and choosing and cleansing stones to work with — the energy extended outward, into the world and the objects around you.
Medicine Buddha Reiki — the heart of it
This is what no other Reiki tradition offers. A full arc of practice with Yakushi Nyorai, the Medicine Buddha — his meaning, his application, his meditation, and his energy brought into aura and chakra practice. His power moves through your hands, alongside Reiki itself. Where most traditions only wish that beings may be well, here you cultivate that power within yourself and bring it actively into every practice.
The Morning Star Meditation — Kokūzō Gumonji-hō
A rare jewel within the Vault. This is the practice of Kokūzō (Ākāśagarbha) — the Bodhisattva of boundless wisdom, space and memory. It is the same meditation that, by tradition, led the young Kūkai to his awakening: gazing toward the morning star, the planet Venus at dawn, and receiving. Here you practice the meditation of receiving in that same current, a thousand years later.
Everything here belongs to Level 1 — a complete foundation you can practice for as long as you wish. And there is more to come: Level 2 and the Master Path each hold a Vault of their own.
Where the path leads
Level 1 is the doorway. Beyond it, on the Master Path, more Buddhas join your practice — each carrying a power of its own. This is what sets Shingon Reiki apart: you don't only work with energy in general, but with specific presences, each with its own gift.
Senju Kannon — the thousand-armed presence of compassion, reaching each being in a different way. Her power is the clearing of heart and mind: not making you pure, but uncovering the clarity that was always beneath what life piled on top. It is her compassion that lives in the second Reiki symbol.
Jizō Bosatsu — the one who brings comfort in grief and hope where it seems only darkness remains. That is his great gift.
Dainichi Nyorai — the Great Sun Buddha, the source from which Reiki itself ultimately flows. His is not a distant summit you may reach one day. It is the quiet certainty that you are, at your core, already pure and already awake — revealed not in one great awakening, but in small daily moments of "ah, there it is," each one showing you where the path leads. A beginner feels it as a first spark. A practitioner of many years knows it as the ground they keep returning to.
About the initiation
The Vault is your space for practice — it does not include a live initiation. If you wish to receive the initiation personally, it can be added separately, given live and one-to-one with me, online. A quiet, direct transmission, at a time we arrange together.
Guided from the source
I'm Dr. Mark Hosak — PhD in Japanese Studies from the University of Heidelberg, with three years of research and practice in the temples of Kyoto, and the 88-temple Shikoku pilgrimage walked on foot. I'm a Shingon practitioner and researcher, and the founder of Shingon Reiki.
I've written three bestselling Reiki books over thirty years of research and practice — among them The Big Book of Reiki Symbols (available in English) and the first Reiki practice book ever published by an academic medical house. Everything within the Vault comes from that source, carried directly to you.
